Law Schools Awarding Full Tuition Scholarships
161 schools award full tuition or more to at least some grant recipients · ABA 509, 2025 cycle
This ranking deliberately ignores how many students receive aid at all. A school where 100% of students receive grants but nearly all of them are partial does not belong here; a school where 60% receive aid and 40% of those pay nothing does. Coverage sits in its own column so the two measures never collapse into one number.

The opposite end: where aid stops short of half
The 161 schools above are ranked by how much of their aid reaches full tuition. These twenty sit at the other extreme — the largest share of their grant recipients receives half tuition or less. That usually reflects a need-driven programme or a thin overall award budget, and it is a materially different proposition for a family.

A high half-tuition-or-less share is not automatically bad — for a student from a lower-income background, a reliable half award may be worth more than an uncertain merit scholarship at a school that also admits more students from that background. What the share does tell you is that most aid at that school stops short of covering the full bill.
How to use this page
- Award size is separate from share. 40% full tuition at a $90,000 school and 40% at a $25,000 school are very different outcomes. The tuition column is there for that reason.
- Full awards are often merit-based and post-admission. Many schools decide these after admission, which means most admitted students are quoted full price. The 509 does not disclose that timing.
- Conditional awards get cut. A full award contingent on a GPA is not guaranteed income. Check retention rates where reported.
- Nothing here is an offer. Every figure is a historical cohort median or distribution, not a prediction of what any individual would be awarded.
