What's in the 509 data
Every ABA-accredited school must publish a Standard 509 report each year. The Grants and Scholarships section reports how many students receive grant aid, the 25th, 50th and 75th percentile award amounts, and how awards are distributed across bands (less than half tuition through more than full tuition). The Tuitions and Fees section reports whether the school awards conditional scholarships, and — if it does — how many students lost them after first year.
That combination is what makes an offer comparable: the headline discount, and the odds that the discount survives to graduation.
