How the tiers are decided
Each school is graded against your numbers using its 25th, 50th and 75th percentile LSAT and GPA from the ABA Standard 509 disclosure:
- Reach — both your LSAT and GPA sit below the school's median, or one is below its 25th percentile.
- Match — both fall inside the 25th–75th band, or one is above median while the other is not below the 25th.
- Safety — both are above the 75th percentile and the school reports an admit rate of 40% or higher.
- Splitter — one axis is above the 75th percentile while the other is below the 25th. A separate group, because some schools weight the strong axis heavily.
Costs and net costs use the same three-year methodology as the rest of the site and never estimate a per-credit school's annual total. Admissions outcomes depend on far more than two numbers — treat this as a starting point, not a verdict.
