Frequently asked questions

What is the LSAT score range?

The LSAT is scored on a scale from 120 to 180. In practice, almost every admitted applicant falls between 140 and 178 — the lowest and highest scores that actually appear in ABA 509 reports. For the 2025 entering class, the median LSAT across all 196 ABA-accredited schools ranged from about 150 to 174.

What LSAT score range do I need for law school?

It depends entirely on the schools you target. The median LSAT at the most selective schools (the T14) is 170 or higher, while the median at many regional schools sits between 152 and 160. Use each school's 25th–75th LSAT range to see where you currently fall.

What is the LSAT score range for T14 law schools?

For the 2025 entering class, T14 median LSAT scores range from 171 to 174. The full 25th–75th LSAT range for each T14 school is in the table above.

What is a "good" LSAT score range?

A 160 places you around the median of the typical ABA law school; a 165+ is competitive at many ranked schools; and a 170+ puts you in range for the T14. Because medians vary so widely, "good" is relative to the schools on your list — compare your score against each school's published 25th–75th range.

How is the 25th–75th percentile LSAT range calculated?

Law schools report the LSAT scores of their entering class to the ABA. The 25th percentile is the score at or above which the lowest quarter of admitted students fell, and the 75th percentile is the score at or above which the top quarter fell. The range between them is the "middle 50%" — the typical spread of scores at that school.
