LSAT Testing Accommodations
LSAC provides testing accommodations for candidates with documented disabilities. The process is handled entirely online through your LSAC JD Services account. Here is how it works, what you need to submit, and the one deadline that matters most.
What accommodations are available?
Common LSAT accommodations include extended testing time (often 50% or 100%), additional or flexible breaks, assistive technology (such as JAWS, Dragon, or ZoomText at in-person centers), and a separate testing room. The specific accommodation depends on your documented needs. LSAC makes the final decision based on the documentation you submit — approval is based on documented functional impairment, not a diagnosis by itself.
How to request LSAT accommodations
- Register for your LSAT administration. You must be registered for the test date you are requesting accommodations for before you can begin the request.
- Open the request form in JD Services. After registering, activate the "Request or Modify Accommodations" link under "LSAT" in your account menu.
- Complete the form and upload documentation. The online form walks you through providing all required information. You can save progress and return, but you must submit by the deadline.
- Submit by the accommodation request deadline. See the deadline section below.
The deadline that matters most
The accommodation request deadline is the same as the registration deadline for that LSAT administration, and LSAC states there are no exceptions to it. Both your registration and your complete accommodation request — with all supporting documentation — must be in by that date. Requests submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed for that administration. Exact dates for each test are on LSAC's upcoming LSAT dates and in the registration & application deadlines guide.
Documentation requirements
Documentation must come from a qualified professional and clearly connect your condition to the specific accommodations requested. Files must be legible, in English (with an official translation if the original is not in English), and under 10 MB each. If you were already approved in the past, you generally receive the same or equivalent accommodations automatically on future registrations — you would only use the form again to change or add to what was approved.
Your scores are not flagged
LSAC does not annotate the score reports of test takers who receive accommodations, and does not notify law schools that you requested or tested with accommodations. Accommodated scores are reported in exactly the same way as all other scores.
A note on test modality for 2026–2027
For the 2026–2027 testing cycle, LSAC is moving toward in-center testing for almost all test takers, with limited exceptions for certain disability-related accommodations or for candidates who are more than 180 miles (or three hours' drive) from a domestic Prometric center with available capacity. If your approved accommodation requires a specific modality, that requirement is communicated as part of your approval.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions
How do I request LSAC LSAT accommodations?
First register for the LSAT administration you plan to take. Then, in your LSAC JD Services account, open the "Request or Modify Accommodations" form (found under "LSAT" in the account menu). The form guides you through submitting your information and uploading documentation online. You cannot start the request until you are registered for that test date.
What is the LSAT accommodation request deadline?
The accommodation request deadline is the same as the registration deadline for that LSAT administration, and LSAC states there are no exceptions to it. Submit both your registration and your accommodation request, with all supporting documentation, by that date — requests received after the deadline will not be reviewed for that administration. Deadlines for each test are listed on LSAC's upcoming LSAT dates page.
What documentation do I need for LSAT accommodations?
LSAC reviews requests based on documented functional impairment, not diagnosis alone. Documentation must come from a qualified professional, be in English (with an official translation if the original is not), and clearly connect your condition to the specific accommodations you are requesting. Uploaded files must be legible and under 10 MB each.
Are LSAT accommodation scores flagged to law schools?
No. LSAC does not annotate the score reports of test takers who receive accommodations, including extended time, and does not notify or communicate to law schools that a candidate requested or tested with accommodations. Accommodated scores are reported in the same manner as all other scores.
Do I need to request accommodations every time I take the LSAT?
Generally, no. Test takers who were previously approved for accommodations typically receive the same or equivalent accommodations automatically when they register for a future LSAT. You would use the same "Request or Modify Accommodations" form only if you need to change or add to what was already approved.
