The average ABA law school reports an 82% first-time bar pass rate. That average hides a 44.85%–99.43% spread, and it says almost nothing about whether a school's pass rate predicts yours.
Median grant figures alone mislead — they only count students who won aid. Weighting grants by the share of students who actually received them produces a very different ranking, including some LSAT 170+ schools at under $5,000 net cost.
Small law schools average a LOWER bar pass rate than large ones — 77.7% vs 86.7%. But within that group, some beat schools with nearly identical median LSATs by 22 points. The real story is program, not size.
